Optics

FOXSI uses hard X-ray reflecting optics fabricated at NASA/Marshall. For the first FOXSI flight 7 electroformed nickel mirrors of different radii were nested together to form each of 7 modules. To the second flight FOXSI will have five recycled modules from the first campaign and two new modules with teen mirrors each. Mirrors were designed following a Wolter-I geometry and using a focal length of 2 meters. The angular optical resolution is then less than eight arcseconds.
